By 2030, Africa will account for a fifth of the world’s population, with a disproportionately young demographic. This surge will inject tens of millions of young people into the global labour market. To capitalize on this demographic dividend, businesses of all sizes must strategically adapt their hiring practices and workplace cultures to effectively harness the potential of African talent.

Paid HR (formerly Pade HCM), a Nigerian HR tech SaaS startup with over 100 African businesses on its platform, has been at the forefront of this transformation since 2020. By offering a comprehensive suite of features, including payroll, performance management, onboarding, benefits administration, and more, Paid HR empowers African organisations to streamline their employee lifecycle processes and unlock the full potential of their workforce.

Fueled by $500,000 in funding and a successful track record of processing ₦11.473 billion in salaries in 2023, the startup is introducing a revised pricing structure that includes no upfront fees and launching a PaidHiring, an applicant tracking system (ATS).

“We looked at the current economic realities of Nigeria with inflation at an all-high and asked ourselves how we make it easier for people to gain access to our product,” Oluwatosin Olowo, Tech Adoption Specialist at PaidHR, said. “The obvious answer was to eliminate the upfront onboarding fee, reducing the barrier to entry and allowing businesses to experience our platform’s benefits without immediate financial commitment.”

The new onboarding process, according to Nancy-Olive Tamuno,  Product Marketing Specialist at PaidHR, is a significant improvement over the previous manual process. Previously, the team had to manually vet each new customer before they could proceed. However, with the new system, new customers can now sign up, onboard, and begin running payroll all on the same day.

PaidHR is solidifying its position as a solution for employee management

The startup is also solidifying its position as a one-stop solution for employee management, with the launch of PaidHiring.

“We’re launching PaidHiring because we believe that a streamlined hiring process is essential for building fulfilling careers and a stronger African workforce,” said Ore Badmus, Product Marketing and Communications Lead at PaidHR. “By connecting employers with top talent, we’re empowering individuals to reach their full potential and contributing to the economic growth of the continent,”

This new product which adds to the growing suite of PaidHR’s capabilities, follows the launch of an Earned Wage Access feature in October 2023 to help employees be paid before payday to cushion the impact of the continued inflation on the continent, especially in Nigeria

“Our goal is to create a world where companies can hire right and fast from the get-go. Candidates can also trust that whatever companies they are applying to will have a seamless recruitment process,” Badmus said.

“PaidHiring is just one of the many innovative products we’re launching this year. It’s a significant step toward our goal of simplifying life for African workers.”
