PAIX Data Centres expands to Dakar, Senegal, marking a significant step in its African expansion strategy.
Strategically located in the Ouakam neighborhood, near the ACE and 2Africa submarine cable landings, this facility is poised to become a central hub for cloud, content, and connectivity services in the region.
The Dakar data center will offer 1.2 megawatts of IT load across 918 square meters of colocation space, accommodating approximately 300 cabinets.
Designed with reliability and security in mind, it features multiple physical security layers, including CCTV, proximity cards, man traps, and biometrics, as well as advanced fire detection and suppression systems.
The power infrastructure boasts a 2N UPS configuration with N+1 generators, while the cooling system is designed with N+1 redundancy to ensure optimal performance.
This initiative aligns with PAIX’s mission to enhance Africa’s digital infrastructure, providing scalable, secure, and energy-efficient solutions for businesses, internet service providers (ISPs), and content delivery networks.

By leveraging its strategic location and robust infrastructure, the Dakar facility aims to support the region’s growing digital economy and position Senegal as a technological hub.
In a similar vein, PAIX expanded its Accra, Ghana facility to 1.2 MW in May 2024, following a $20 million equity investment from Africa50 in 2022. This expansion underscores PAIX’s commitment to bridging the infrastructure gap across Africa and enabling businesses to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
As Senegal continues to emerge as a prominent technology and innovation hub in West Africa, investments like PAIX’s Dakar data center are crucial.
The country has been actively investing in its digital economy, with efforts to improve internet penetration, tech skills, and infrastructure.
This development is expected to create opportunities for innovation, enhance service delivery, and contribute to Africa’s position in the global digital economy.
PAIX’s strategic investments in localized data solutions are in line with broader industry efforts to bring cloud services closer to businesses in Africa. As demand for data services continues to rise, such initiatives are anticipated to foster innovation and support the continent’s digital transformation.
